Abstract:

In comparison with the development of other regional economic cooperative organization, East Asia was conspicuously Late in jumping onto the regionalism bandwagon, and the course of development was flexuose and laggardly. Surveying the history of the regional cooperation and integration, the efforts to build institutional frameworks in the East Asia have so far developed in three distinct stages： early attempts, primacy of APEC and formation of ASEAN＋3 and proliferation of bilateral FTAs. although there are still many difficulties and challenges, the regional cooperation is irreversible in East Asia. And the development course of prophase contributed experiences and laid the groundwork for the next period, therefore, the region will ultimately make progress towards the ＂East Asia community＂ vision.[著者文摘]
