Abstract:

In the search for effective drugs, reducing or eliminating a specific protein from the cell is a new route to therapy of certain diseases. To achieve this it is necessary to block the action of messenger RNA （mRNA）, which is a copy of the gene＇s base sequence in a single strand of RNA. It carries information for protein construction from the gene to the protein synthetic machinery in the cell＇s cytoplasm.[第一段]
