Abstract:

As its technology advances, liquefied natural gas （LNG） is becoming more and more an option to meet ever increasing demand in developed countries where reserves of natural gas are dwindling. High gas prices and demand are making LNG production and shipping infrastructure viable on cost and economic grounds for so called ＇stranded＇ reserves of natural gas. The latest advance in technology making LNG attractive on cost grounds alone is a proposal to use salt caverns in the US for storage.[第一段]
