摘 要:
尽管霍桑的第二部罗曼司《带七个尖角阁的房子》备受争议，但它那丰富的主题内涵与巧妙的叙事策略获得了广泛赞誉。霍桑以历史作为叙述的本源，通过探索现代人心理的精神实质，去阐释历史对现实的影响；特别是通过探索霍尔格雷夫价值观的嬗变，希望以一种抽象的“爱”去消解现实中的矛盾，以一种非政治化的方法去解决当时国家民族所面临的政治困境。这不仅体现了霍桑的艺术追求，而且彰显其创作的文化政治策略，即实现了作家建构主流政治话语的文化努力。[著者文摘]

On Nathaniel Hawthorne＇s Cultural-Political Strategy In The House of the Seven Gables

Abstract:
Although Hawthorne＇ s second romance The House of the Seven Gables has been controversial, the achievement of its themes and narrative skills have been greatly praised by readers. Through exploring modem people＇ s spiritual essence, using history as narrative original, Hawthome illustrates the Past＇ s influence on the present. Especially by exploring the change of Holgrave＇ s value viewpoint, the narrator proposes a conception of love to eradicate the actual contradictions. Hawthorne actually provides an alternative by an apolitical solution to the national problem, which is not only his artistic pursuit but also his culturally political strategy in his writing. In another word, by the discourse of his historical romance, Hawthorne has made great efforts to construct the main political discourse.[著者文摘]
