Biochemistry (Moscow), Supplement Series A: Membrane and Cell Biology is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes original articles on physical, chemical, and molecular mechanisms that underlie basic properties of biological membranes and mediate membrane-related cellular functions. The primary topics of the journal are membrane structure, mechanisms of membrane transport, bioenergetics and photobiology, intracellular signaling as well as membrane aspects of cell biology, immunology, and medicine. The journal is multidisciplinary and gives preference to those articles that employ a variety of experimental approaches, basically in biophysics but also in biochemistry, cytology, and molecular biology. The journal publishes articles that strive for unveiling membrane and cellular functions through innovative theoretical models and computer simulations. The journal welcomes manuscripts from all countries. PEER REVIEW and EDITORIAL POLICY The journal follows the Springer Nature Peer Review Policy, Process and Guidance, Springer Nature Journal Editors' Code of Conduct, and COPE's Ethical Guidelines for Peer-reviewers. Approximately 10% of the manuscripts are rejected without review based on formal criteria as they do not comply with the submission guidelines. Each manuscript is assigned to one or two peer reviewers. The journal follows a single-blind reviewing procedure. The average period from submission to the first decision is usually at most 28 days. The approximate rejection rate is 15%. The final decision on the acceptance of a manuscript for publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief. If Editors, including the Editor-in-Chief, publish in the journal, they do not participate in the decision-making process for manuscripts where they are listed as co-authors. Special issues published in the journal follow the same procedures as all other issues. If not stated otherwise, special issues are prepared by the members of the editorial board without guest editors.
