This journal presents high-quality articles that focus on basic and applied research in the broad area of neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan. Neurodevelopmental disorders are characterized by impairments in cognition, communication, behavior, social skills, emotions, and/or motor skills resulting from abnormal brain development. Examples of neurodevelopmental disorders include Fragile X syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, childhood disintegrative disorder, Rett’s disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified. Coverage spans a broad range of issues, populations, and domains: diagnosis; incidence and prevalence; educational, pharmacological, behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and psychosocial interventions across the lifespan. Animal models of basic research that advance understanding and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, and comparative studies with neurotypical populations are encouraged.
