Religion, State & Society is a leading authoritative multidisciplinary journal focusing on the interplay between religion and political and social theory and practice. The aim of the journal is to provide a site for cross-fertilisation among disciplines and perspectives on issues of current concern and to set them in their appropriate historical context. The journal encourages a comparative approach, with the intention of examining similarities and differences in the experiences of countries, regions and religions, in stability or in transition.Religion, State & Society has a long-established reputation, built up over 40 years, during which religion has been increasingly recognised as a dimension that needs to be taken into account by students and specialists in a wide range of disciplines. The journal was originally titled Religion in Communist Lands and focused on the Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe and China, but now covers all faiths and all regions of the world.
