Established in 1972, Daphnis was conceived as a platform dedicated to publishing research into German literature and culture of the early modern period (14th-18th century). Since then, it has expanded to include interdisciplinary and intercultural perspectives. Today, Daphnis is recognized as a leading international forum for scholarship on the early modern period. The journal explores the relationship between German literature, cultural history and the cultures of other European and non-European countries, examining phenomena such as cultural transfer. It also addresses problems pertaining to the Early New High German language and to Neo-Latin literature, and emerging research areas like intermediality, performance theories and gender studies. Published quarterly, Daphnis offers the opportunity for thematic volumes and adheres to a rigorous double-anonymous peer-review process. Daphnis welcomes previously unpublished contributions in both German and English, under categories such as Research Articles, Miscellaneous Contributions, Bibliography and Book Reviews.
