MRS Communications is an archival journal that focuses on the latest advancements across the spectrum of materials research. MRS Communications is intended to widely disseminate transformative ideas and cutting-edge discoveries in our highly interdisciplinary field and to complement the current MRS portfolio of technical publications, including but not limited to the scope of topics included at MRS meetings. MRS Communications publishes shorter but complete manuscripts (letters) of high intellectual value, long-term impact, and with broad coverage of advanced materials research. In addition to the rapid communication formats for urgent and impactful discoveries, two unique formats expand the offerings of the journal: Prospective articles are forward-looking reviews that provide a view of trends and future potential for topics of broad interest to the materials community. Methods Letters provide a concise presentation of new or improved techniques for characterization, instrumentation, materials preparation, analysis, application of machine learning tools, and other key elements of experimentation in a communications-length format. The audience includes materials researchers from any institution including national laboratories, industry and academia.
