Journal of Applied Toxicology publishes peer-reviewed original reviews and hypothesis-driven research articles on mechanistic, fundamental and applied research relating to the harmful effects of both legacy and emerging toxicants at the molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and organismal level in vivo (by all relevant routes of exposure) and in vitro / ex vivo in vertebrates and invertebrates. All aspects of toxicology are covered, including but not limited to toxicity tests, bioaccumulation, toxicokinetics, xenobiotic metabolism, teratogenesis, mutagenesis, carcinogenesis, biomarkers, oxidative stress, endocrine disruption, biomineralization disruption, neurotoxicology, immunotoxicology, reproductive toxicology, respiratory toxicology, toxicogenomics, risk assessment, and environmental health studies. In addition, Journal of Applied Toxicology publishes new techniques and method development studies, including research on animal alternatives and in silico modelling.
