African and Asian Studies is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal devoted to the study of the histories, societies, cultures, and politics of Africa and Asia. It publishes original, empirically grounded and theoretically informed scholarship, with particular emphasis on research based on sustained intellectual engagement with archives, fieldwork, local languages, and knowledge traditions. The journal is especially interested in comparative, historical, and contemporary interactions within and between Africa and Asia. It welcomes work that examines connected histories, political and economic relations, cultural and intellectual exchanges, as well as broader processes of social and historical transformation across these two regions/continents. All articles published in African and Asian Studies , including those in special issues, undergo a double-blind peer review process. From 1966 to 2001, African and Asian Studies was published under the name Journal of African and Asian Studies(*)https://brill.com/view/journals/jaas/jaas-overview.xml . African and Asian Studies is indexed by Web of Science.
