Contemporary Buddhism is an international, Thomson Reuters-indexed journal that publishes articles on the current and future state of Buddhism. The journal is interdisciplinary in its outlook and encourages submissions from the social sciences and humanities, ranging from anthropology, gender studies, political science, museum studies, philosophy, psychology, history, religious studies and other related fields. Articles are non-confessional and reflect the pluralism of Buddhism as practiced around the world. The journal is especially focused on publishing ethnographic studies of lived Buddhism and traditionally neglected perspectives.
